IV Meetings with History and Archeology – Wdzydze Kiszewskie 22-23.08.2015
[Galleries and TV material at the end of the post]
I just cannot believe it’s the 3rd Wdzydze (http://www.wdzydzewikingow.pl/) we have been to. This event has a very special place in our hearts because it was the first early medieval reenactment event for me and Hafkitta (you can read about 2nd and 3rd edition under the links). The festival was even bigger than the last year, with around 300 reenactors onboard. Hosts – Niflheim – learned a lot from the past issues and this year’s camp logistics and situation were a lot better than last yeast, with stall/fair alleys for tourists separated from the camp. I also liked how our camp was situated.
What was going on? Usual stuff, competitions, battles, kubb. What was new – swadźba – betrothal of a pair of reenactors (we missed that one having other problems to deal with at hand..), some interesting new competitions. There also was a scientist from Museum of Archeology with a lecture on dark ages there. We met a lot of new folks from around Poland. This time we didn;t have event time to go greet everyone. Apart from the obvious – PGOH/Berserkir Hird, we saw Niflheim (hosts), Geldape, Naglfar, Ermland, Inog, Gautar, Einherjar, Nordelag, Ulfhoednar… and many many more!
